Looking for a duet acting piece for a fine arts competition?

randomlyjme09 asked:

My school partcipates in a fine arts competition every year and it isn;t until next spring but me and a friend (girl) are going to try out in our school to be able to participate in this competition. I am looking for a site or maybe your own suggestions for a comedy duet acting piece around 9-12 minutes and something a little higher on the literary level. (Aka..not something from brooklyn publishing..not something quaint like that) For an idea..the winning duet acting piece that went on to nationals to also win was a scene from Peter Pan..(not comedic but that can give ya an idea for the literary level I am looking for)
GOOD LUCK! I will be surprised if anyone can answer my question.
also just in case..mind you that this is a highschool compet… so any mention of something racey or suggestive is not appropriate
and it has to be a piece I can find somewhere…so I can submit a copy to the judges
both female

You might want to consider a piece from “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead”, about two characters (albeit minor) from Shakespeare’s Hamlet. This play won several Tony awards during its Broadway run back in the 60s. I’d suggest checking out the movie; the “tennis” scene is an absolute classic that must be seen to be believed! Even though the main characters are both male it shouldn’t be a stretch for your friend to portray one of the roles. :) Good luck to you in your competition!

Are you both female? is one of you male? I’ll try to come back and see if you’ve added info.

    good luck!

If you guys practise staging, and can create great characters and let them be distinctive, there’s a scene that two girls did this past year and they got super far with it

    It’s called Women Behind Bars

I’m not extactly sure on all the details, but basically there’s about 4 main characters and about7-8 side characters, they came up with distinct characters for each character, and it was staged really well and they both did it themselves, a senior and junior in high school. It was about 10 minutes long.

It’s really well written and is a dark comedic piece (at least they way they interpretted it…..)

    Hope that helps
